Moving in Belmont
Belmont sits south of the Barwon River and is classic family Geelong — High Street is its commercial spine and most of the housing is solid 1960s-to-80s brick veneer on regular blocks. It's a steady, settled suburb with a strong retiree population, and a good share of our Belmont work is downsizers moving on and families moving in. Access is generally kinder here than the inner suburbs: street parking is usually available and the streets are wide enough for a truck. The thing to watch is the carry distance — some blocks set the house well back from the kerb, with a long front path or a deep driveway between the truck and the front door, which is simply more steps per item and worth planning the crew around. Being close to Barwon Health and Geelong Private Hospital, we also move a lot of healthcare workers in and out of the area.
Local access & logistics
Every Belmont move starts with the access, because that is what decides the truck, the crew and the timing. Here is what we plan around in Belmont:
- Predominantly 1960s-80s brick veneer on regular blocks — straightforward single-level moves in most cases.
- Street parking is generally available and streets are wide enough for a truck to park close.
- Some blocks set the house well back from the kerb — long front paths and deep driveways mean a longer carry, so crew size is planned for it.
- Close to Barwon Health and Geelong Private Hospital, so weekday healthcare-worker moves are common and timed around shifts.
Send us the pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we'll tell you exactly how we'd handle your move, including parking, the carry and any lift or staircase that needs a plan.

Parking and access in the City of Greater Geelong
Greater Geelong doesn't run a standard one-day removalist parking permit, so the realistic approach is to work with the existing restrictions rather than buy your way around them. In most residential suburbs (Belmont, Highton, Corio and the like) street parking is unrestricted and you can pull the truck up close to the door. In the CBD it's tighter: Moorabool Street, Brougham Street and the surrounding blocks have 30-minute loading zones and 2hr/4hr metered bays, so we book CBD moves for early on a weekday and work the loading zones with the truck on hazard lights. The Waterfront Precinct (the Esplanade, Cunningham Pier and Eastern Beach) is the one to plan around — it mixes resident permit parking with metered public bays, and large-vehicle access is restricted along parts of the promenade, so we scout the closest legal truck spot before the day rather than assume kerbside access.
Belmont removals: common questions
Does crossing the Barwon River add anything to a Belmont move?
Not really — the river bridges (Moorabool Street and the Barwon Heads Road crossings) carry removal trucks fine, so a move between Belmont and the north side of Geelong is a quick, direct run. We just route around peak traffic on the main crossings where we can so the truck isn't sitting still on the bridge.
Do you do retirement and downsizing moves?
Yes, and Belmont sees a lot of them. Downsizing is as much about deciding what comes and what doesn't as it is about the lifting, so we work at your pace, take real care with the pieces you're keeping, and can help with the sorting-and-staging side. No pressure, no rush — it's your move on your terms.
Can the truck park near the shops on High Street?
On the residential streets off High Street parking is unrestricted and we can get the truck close to the door. Right on the High Street strip itself it's busier with timed bays, so for a home or business fronting High Street we book an early start to work the access before the shopping traffic builds.
How much does a move in Belmont cost?
Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative quote up front for your specific move. No surprises on the day.
